The Map of the Philippines


The Philippines is an archipelago of approximately 7,107 islands. The official name is the Republic of the Philippines. It is located in the western side of the Pacific Ocean in Southeast Asia. Surrounding it are the Philippine Sea, South China Sea, Sulu Sea and Celebes Sea. Its neighboring countries are Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. The country has a size of approximately 300,000 sq kilometers or over 115,000 sq miles, making it the 73rd largest country in the world. The country is divided into three major geographical divisions, namely: Luzon (north), Visayas (central) and Mindanao (south), with Manila as its capital. Luzon is the largest, followed by Mindanao, with Visayas the smallest.
